Coconut Oil: 10 Reasons Why This Product Is Simply, Magical! ☆

If you ask me what one of my favorite products in the world is, I will quickly respond without hesitation: COCONUT OIL! 1st things 1st, Coconut oil is one of mother nature’s natural products & depending on what kind you choose to purchase, it comes along with some awesome health benefits (if you so choose to use it for this!)! The 2 types of coconut oil you will find being sold on the shelves at your local grocery store are:

Refined & Unrefined

Refined Coconut Oil ⇨ is made exclusively from dried coconut meat (the meat is called “copra”). This process includes bleaching and treating the coconut meat to reduce bacterial, as well as exposing the coconut oil to a high heat prices to extract the smell and flavoring; some producers will even use chemicals in order to extract as much oil from the coconut meat as possible.

Unrefined Coconut Oil ⇨ often referred to as “virgin” or”pure,” this type of coconut oil is made from fresh coconut meat as opposed to dry. There are two different processes that are used to extract the coconut oil; both methods are quick and do not require additives or bleaching. This type of coconut oil has more floor to it due to the fact that it is not exposed to high temperatures during the production process.

(*Thank you to for this helpful info! )

Personally, I always go with unrefined coconut oil to ensure that I am getting the rawest form of this product & not missing out on any of the benefits which are potentially lost during the refining process! BUT-to each his own! ☺︎

I think when most people think of coconut oil they think of it as a product used in cooking & cooking alone! LONG BEHOLD! If you didn’t know, coconut oil is simply: magical. It can be used for SO many different purposes & in SO many different departments including: cooking/baking (of course), beauty/skincare, health/hygiene & even cleaning! & because I am SO passionate about this product, I am going to go into detail about how you can put this product into use for yourself & hopefully reap the benefits like I have from it! Here we GO!

10 Reasons Why Coconut Oil is Simply Magical!

(Uses & Benefits!)

As a means to eliminate bacteria in your mouth- which can be linked to sickness in your body in general- oil pulling is key. Take a teaspoon of coconut oil (you can pre-melt or let it melt in your mouth), swish around for 10-20 minutes, & spit it out (preferably in a garbage can to not clog any sink or pipeage). Proceed to rinse &/or continue with flossing/brushing routine. Not only is this good for your health, but oil pulling also helps to whiten your teeth! Keep those pearly whites shining!

Rub it ALL over- from your head to your toes! Combine coconut oil with your favorite essential oils (for added benefits) or use it on its own! Dryness, irritation, eczema, acne, etc. Be cautious of how much you lather on, because it can definitely get too oily! Last thing we want is for you to slide across the bathroom floor (although that may be fun?!)!

“Eat itttt, eat itttt, don’t know what to do just eat it!” That was my Michael Jackson rendition of “Beat It,” if you didn’t catch that. Im REALLY excited about this one because of all the health benefits & magic that goes on internally when you consume coconut oil. The 2 things that everyone loves to hear about the consumption of coconut oil is that it: reduces body fat & increases your metabolism! SCORE! Although it may have a higher calorie content, it ends up burning fat! In my opinion, its worth every drop!

Even if you aren’t cooking, I know people who get out a teaspoon & consume it raw- on its own! I don’t know if I could stomach that, but if you can, I support that! Use coconut oil in just about any recipe when it comes to both baking & cooking! Note: coconut flavor may be too overpowering & alter the flavor of any specific dish! Use your tastebuds & decide for yourself if it works or not!

Coconut oil can be applied to hair as a means to add moisture & reduce frizz! To apply: use a very small (pea size) amount to ends of hair & work your way through, where needed, being careful not to add to much-resulting in greasy looking hair! On the plus side, studies also show that coconut oil works to reduce protein loss from hair. Apply before or after shampooing.

Coconut oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which make it a powerful agent in breaking up certain particles found in makeup. I’ve personally have had experience using coconut oil in removing makeup & I can vouch for it getting the job done, although it can be a bit risky when using around the eyes. My suggestion for application is: scoop out a teaspoon of coconut oil & massage into face, leaving the eyes until last. Keep your eyes closed tightly as you rinse your face with warm water, using a dampened wash cloth to wipe downwards on the eyelids! Finish skincare routine with a gentle face wash of your choice to remove the remaining oils.

DIY lip balm! ⇨

What you will need: unrefined coconut oil, an empty lip gloss container, bowl/spoon for mixing, 1 or more additional oils (argan, avocado, jojoba, etc.), & lipstick (optional for color tint!).

What to do: add a teaspoon of coconut oil to bowl (as well as lipstick if choosing to go with a tinted moisturizer). Melt oil in microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Add a few drops of an additional oil for added moisturizer. Let sit for a few minutes to cool & harden. &&& there you have it! —> Your own, natural lip balm in just minutes!

Combine in reusable spray bottle:

• 1/4 cup melted coconut oil

• 4 tbsp distilled white vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

Spray on wood furniture & wipe away with a clean cloth! Watch it SHINE! (“ooooh, ahhhh!”)

According to a new study, coconut oil may be a more effective product for the usage of repellancy against mosquitoes & other bugs in comparison to Deet-which is an oil used in many leading brands of repellant. According to an article by USA Today, scientific reports have identified specific coconut fatty acids that have strong repellency & long-lasting effectiveness against many insects that are capable of transmitting diseases to humans and animals! So take some of that oil out of the jar, slap it on, & venture out into the wilderness! Hopefully you’ll come back bite-free!

P.S. I’ve heard lavender oil is really good for repellency as well! I bet adding a few drops to your mix would work WONDERS!

If the previous step doesn’t hold up as planned, DO NOT FRET! With it’s anti-inflammatory properties, coconut oil can be applied directly onto stings, bites, & wounds! Apply & throw a band aid over it!

We all love wine! & if not, we all definitely love PIZZA! Say goodbye to those saucy stains today! (haha)

• 1 part coconut oil

• 1 part baking soda

Mix to make paste, apply onto desired spot, set timer for 5 minutes, & wipe away!

I hope you can take away at least 1 (or maybe even all 10) of theses amazing uses & put them into gear in your own life!

I mean honestly, what CAN’T you do with coconut oil?!
